There is no denying this is a challenging time. People are expressing their concerns and trust has been jeopardized. The new buzz word of transparency trickles down from our President to our neighbors. It seems people are taking great comfort in not being alone in their fears and troubles. I guess you could say we are all in the same “boat”. Even in these unsettling times bright spots emerge amid all the economic doom and gloom. One particular example is, if you can, now is a great time to build. The costs of steel, iron, asphalt, roofing materials and other construction materials have decreased because of lower diesel prices and the global slowdown. Contractors are competing heavily for projects bringing a wider range of bids.

Also, industries are banding together more than ever and getting their voice heard. The National Association of Realtors recently secured that homebuyers will see lower interest rates for home mortgages, a greater ability to get financing through FHA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac in high-cost areas, a tax credit incentive to buy a home now, foreclosure mitigation and short-sale standards.
